What Are the Seven Noahide Laws?

The 7 Noahide Laws are rules that all of us must keep, regardless of who we are or from where we come. Without these seven things, it would be impossible for humanity to live together in harmony.

LAW ONE

Believe in one G-d - no idolatry

Acknowledge that there is one infinite Creator, and do not replace Him with anything finite - not objects, not other beings, not oneself.

LAW TWO

Do not curse G-d - no blasphemy

Respect the Creator. Even in frustration or anger, do not curse or revile Him.

LAW THREE

Do not murder

Human life is sacred beyond measure - to destroy one life is to destroy a whole world; to sustain one life is to sustain a whole world.

LAW FOUR

Do not be cruel to animals

Do not eat a limb taken from a living animal. Respect all living creatures and do not cause them needless pain.

LAW FIVE

Do not steal

Do not take what is not yours - money, property, or any benefit that comes at another's unfair expense.

LAW SIX

Respect the family - no forbidden relations

Honor the family unit, the foundation of human society, by avoiding adultery, incest, and other forbidden relations.

LAW SEVEN

Establish justice

Set up and uphold courts and just laws, so society rests on fairness and order rather than might.
